William Hodges

Experience

William Hodges founded Piedmont Capital in 2021 to focusing on the acquisition of core plus and value-add real estate investment opportunities throughout the Carolinas. William is responsible for the strategic direction of Piedmont Capital and sources all opportunities for the company. Prior to forming Piedmont Capital, William served as the managing partner of New Forum Partners. Since 2018 William has sourced and closed over $100,000,000 of off-market opportunities throughout the Charlotte region.

William currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Charlotte Region Board of Realtors (CRCBR) and previously served as Vice President in 2022. He also sits on the Land Acquisition Committee for the Catawba Lands Conservancy. He previously served on the Board of Directors for Unity Classical Charter School and South Chapter Board for the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance (formerly Charlotte Chamber). William graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Real Estate from the Terry College of Business.

Michael Threlkeld

Experience

Michael Threlkeld joined Piedmont in 2021 and oversees all financial aspects of Piedmont Capital including the financing, underwriting, transaction structuring and asset management. Other responsibilities include developing and tracking business plans for all assets in the portfolio to make sure the plan is implemented properly, as well as tracking the performance of real estate investments, establish and maintain investor capital accounts and calculate waterfall distributions and preferred returns pursuant to operating agreements.

Michael spent seven years in real estate and finance as the Vice President of Finance at Grubb Properties, one of the largest private real estate firms in the Southeastern U.S. While at Grubb, he was responsible for sourcing, underwriting and closing on a variety of acquisition and development properties with loan volumes exceeding $750M across office, retail, multifamily and industrial asset classes. Prior that that, Michael was a member of the production team at Berkeley Capital Advisors, one of the highest producing investment sales firms focused on brokerage of retail investment real estate in the across the U.S. During his time at Berkeley, Michael assisted in the closing of over 40 grocery-anchored retail properties totaling $700M in transaction volume. Michael is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and currently serves on the Capital Markets Committee for ULI. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Economics from the Terry College of Business.

Chris Lingerfelt

Experience

Chris brings over 13-years of experience in real estate, most recently as a Managing Director in the Charlotte office of JLL Capital Markets, Americas. He joined JLL as part of the HFF acquisition in 2019 where he was responsible for institutional-grade office investment sales advisory transactions across the southeastern United States. Throughout his career, Chris has been involved in the sale or capitalization of more than $6 billion in commercial real estate transactions across all asset types. Chris started at HFF in January 2010. Chris graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Finance from the Harbert College of Business.

Chris oversees all aspects of Piedmont Capital’s investment analysis, transaction structuring, and dispositions.

Jonathan Stewart

Experience

Prior to joining Piedmont Capital in 2023, Jonathan spent 7 years with Northwood Retail, where he oversaw the organization’s leasing activities and new developments in the Southeast region.  He played a key role in several notable projects, including The Bowl at Ballantyne, Blakeney Town Center, Freshfields Village, Waverly Place, McEwen Northside, and Fifth and Broadway.  

Before that, Jonathan spent 8 years with The Providence Group, representing a diverse group of property owners, developers, financial institutions, and select tenants.  He holds a B.S. in Financial Management with an emphasis in Real Estate from the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business at Clemson University.
